Oil Painting of Bindweed

12 by 12 inches, oil on hardboard

Here’s a painting of a tangle of foliage, in the spirit of Woody Nightshade and Common Boneset. This one features bindweed and other plants growing in the “prairie” areas around Lake Glenview. The bindweed family includes morning glory – which I love and used to grow. To my dad it was a weed to keep it out of his cornfields. After pulling thousands of self-seeded morning glory plants out of my tiny garden at our last house I came to see his point. Still beautiful, though. Belated happy birthday and Father’s Day to my dear dad.
