The more I paint the more I love it. In between freelance graphic design jobs and family duties, I aim to complete one painting a week, more or less. I also enjoy teaching, filling up sketchbooks, gardening, permaculture, photography, and general diy.

There’s a book about the artist Robert Irwin called “Seeing is Forgetting The Name of the Thing One Sees”. My work is nothing like his, in appearance or stature. Still, I hang onto that phrase when I’m painting — looking at something carefully and long, losing myself in it, and finding a new sense of awareness and wonder in a carrot or a leaf, or whatever it is.

Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the posts! Paintings are available for sale immediately. Drying time before shipping is about three or four weeks. Lately I’m using Gamblin and Winsor & Newton oil paints.

    Hi Deb,
I bought a painiting at a local shop about a year ago. It looks very similar to some of yours that I see on your site. Can you please email me, so I can send you a picture of it. I would really like to know more about it.
    Thanks, Melissa G.

Yes, you can see photos of the event on our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/terrehautewomensclubinc/) and Website (www.TerreHauteWomensClub.com) Our group provides over 1200 pairs of shoes and 2600 pairs of new socks to children in need in our Vigo County School System (grades K-12) We do this through our Annual Fundraiser called “An Evening of Art & Wine” held each spring. Our next event is April 21, 2018 at the Hulman Center in downtown Terre Haute. We host 10 artists to come and showcase and sell their artwork at our event. The artists give 20% of their sales to the Shoe Bus. Last year, our artists sold over $26,000 in artwork for the evening. I have a Word Document that explains more about the details of the event and includes a Commitment Letter for you to sign if you would like to be one of our artists for the 2018 event. We would love to have you come and show your work. Would you mind giving me an idea of the price range for your work as well? I don’t seem to have that in my notes from all the Art Shows my Co-Chair and I attended this year.
Thank you so much for your time and interest. Feel free to call my cell if you have any questions.

Love your pictures especially the ones of the night sky. I would love to feature the ‘Seven Sisters’ as a header to a post about birds in the night, currently in draft. I will of course fully credit you in the text and link to your blog/site.

You were kind enough to allow me to use your painting of the Pleiades to illustrate my blog. This time my request is slightly different.

I have been invited to submit some haiku to the Wales Haiku Journal. I would like to use your painting in the creation of a haiga – superimposing the following haiku over your painting …

        lights twinkle
        in darkening skies …
        a curlew calls

This does change the tone and mood of your original painting, adding a different, perhaps more mysterious, dimension. You may feel this is inappropriate and unacceptable. I respect that.

If you agree I will of course credit you as the artist, in my submission.

If you can send me your email I will send you a copy of the haiga and await your response.

I agree with this, you have permission to use my work in this way. Thanks for writing the poem – it resonates with me.

Thank you so much – your painting is a perfect match for my words. I’m really touched.

I can’t send you the image but here is a link to the one you allowed me to use on my blog with the haiku added.

The deadline for submissions is the 31st December with those accepted for publication appearing in the Winter edition of the on-line journal in January.

I will let you know as soon as it’s published, always assuming it’s accepted, and send you a link to the journal.

      All the very best
