Climate Crisis Print

Posted on Updated on

I just wrote this new post over at the new website, and I’ll copy it here 🙂

I made this lino print in whole-hearted support of the Sept. 2019 Global Climate Strike. (All proceeds from this edition of 20 will go to the Citizens’ Climate Lobby.) I experimented with different visual elements, and thought a lot about how what’s required to bring my way of life into harmony with a healthy climate.

A hand – a blessing hand, an aware hand. Surrounded by non-human life and energy (weather, time, space). An eye – observing, open, aware. Envisioning a shift in values and long view of survival, necessity and success.

I printed this on a shirt, I’d like to make more. I’m thinking about making it into a poster, or maybe stickers? Like a visual reminder. The slogan I have in mind is “Action and vision for the climate,” or “Pay Attention, Take Action.” Let me know if you have other ideas. The energy is here, the solutions are here. We can connect.

Park Forest Art Fair, Climate Strike

Preparing for this weekend’s Park Forest Art Fair! I posted a bit about it over at my new website, but wanted to share it here as well. Find the show here, southwest of Chicago.

I’m bringing new prints I made in support of the the Global Climate Strike. All proceeds from these prints will go to the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. I tried printing in on a tank top and it turned out pretty well, even made it through the wash.

Sometimes I think of this conversation from Tolkien when the problems of the world seem insurmountable:

Arwen: ‘This is not the end, it is the beginning… This is your path.’

Aragorn: ‘My path is hidden from me’

Arwen: ‘It is already laid before your feet. You cannot falter now… If you trust nothing else… trust this… trust us.’
