Oil Painting: Pickerel Weed

Posted on Updated on

Pickerel Weed, oil on canvas, 20 by 24 inches, ©Deb Anderson

I usually don’t look up the names of these plants until I’m done painting them (ended up realizing one painting was of poison ivy). The purple flowers here are pickerel weed – appropriate since they were growing in Pickerel Lake, a place our family vacationed every summer for many years. So many dark jewel tones – this was a fun one.
