Oil Painting: White Doe

Posted on Updated on

This one kept me occupied for a while: White Doe, 24 by 36 inches, oil on cradled hardboard. Like flowers and fruit, deer have a long and symbolic history in painting and art. I was looking through some books on the inspiring work of Gerhard Richter, and this is a humble, more literal nod to his Stag painting. The larger format gave me quality time to ponder the meaning of wilderness, and my role in the natural world.
