Oil Painting: Dutchman’s Breeches

Dutchman’s Breeches are among my favorite spring woodland flowers. They’re not blooming yet – this painting is from photos I took in the backyard last year. The sun is shining though, the kids are outdoors running and shrieking (with coats and shoes, only because mom insisted). It won’t be long. After watching youtube videos of Scottish landscape painter Scott Naismith this week, I tried to use more pure, vibrant color. I’ll submit this for the DPW Signs of Spring Challenge.

(From now on I’ll link the images of the paintings to their listings on etsy, so just click on this painting to visit the shop.)
