An Oil Painting of Red Grapes

Posted on Updated on

10 by 10 inches, oil on gessoed hardboard

I painted this all in one go yesterday. It felt great to be painting larger. I used a bigger brush and concentrated on patches of color instead of tight rendering. I planned this to be a split complimentary color scheme of Blue Purple, Yellow Orange and Yellow Green, and I’m submitting it to the DPW Color Challenge. The background was going to be more green. I’m not sure if the blue/green/gray upsets the scheme, but I like it.

Love the range of colors in the grapes and the perfect muted shade in the background.
